Say hello to the Year of the Dragon! Being the most creative, intelligent and curious of creatures, many people will tap into hidden talents of their own. It’s all about being innovative, brave and original, and about funneling your passion into worthwhile pursuits.
With a strong yang energy flowing, slowing down may prove tricky, but natural settings, ‘hands-on’ crafts and spiritual pursuits should keep us grounded. The Dragon gets on especially well with the rooster (they are ‘secret friends’), and holds a special affinity to the rat and monkey.
According to feng shui, the energies within our homes shift each year. Some ‘compass sectors’ will become more auspicious and supportive, while others may be best kept quiet. Of course, your home’s base feng shui plays a role*, but even so, these tips for 2024 are well worth a try!
Energise the vibe
Welcome the Dragon with sparkling-clean windows and doors, then to recharge your home, open them regularly over the coming weeks (only when safe, of course). To banish bad luck, burn white sage leaves or sandalwood incense in every nook and cranny, or ring a bell in each room. Metal is a powerful cleanser in feng shui.
Clear the clutter
Clutter can create a sense of confusion and trap us in the past, so if you’re ready to move forward, start clearing. Tackle cupboards, purge your pantry, and toss out anything that’s broken or evokes bad memories. Donate or sell unworn clothes, or pack them into boxes then pass them on, unopened, next year.
Attract good fortune
In the Dragon Year, the luckiest energies will gather in your home’s south west sector (most phones have a compass app). Begin with an extra-good clean and declutter, then start beautifying. Flowers, lamps, crystals, bamboo plants, suncatchers, oil burners, candles or red items should all lift the vibe. The next luckiest sector in 2024 is the east, then the north.
Support romance
To invite romance in 2024, try energising the north western part of your home or garden. Jazz up your lighting, add romantic images, display rose quartz crystals (the stone of love) and pop in some pretty flowers or fruiting trees. Alternatively, a pair of ornamental ducks, rabbits or birds might work nicely. The south west sector is also super-supportive this year!
Learning & study
The flying stars in the north east should support learning and self improvement in 2024, plus if could attract business success. It’s a good spot for students and teachers. No special cures are needed – just keep this sector clean and well-aired if using, to reduce the risk of addiction or loneliness. As an option, the south west, east and north sectors are also supportive this year (2024).
Place cures in West
To side-step trouble on the health, relationship, and finance fronts in 2024, avoid over-stimulating your home’s western sector, as this may be a little discordant.
Bells and metal wind-chimes should help to harmonise this zone, but if you have a choice, spend time in more supportive areas, like the south west and east. If you have a choice of doors, you might even like to try using one in another compass sector – but only if you need more support.
*PLEASE NOTE: The success of these feng shui tips depend on your home’s base ‘flying stars’, so if your situation becomes worse, try moving things around – or have your feng shui professionally assessed. Call or text me on 0411 631 940 for a quote. I’m happy to help and assist!
