Feng shui colour swatches - Jenny BlumeColor and art advice

Well-chosen colours will not only harmonise your home or workplace and provide a psychological lift, they can improve your feng shui.

Sometimes, all it takes switching your art or mirrors around, or adding a specific colour to a room, and the whole vibe will lift. I pay particular attention to the mood and psychological impact of colours, plus look at a room’s natural light and the feng shui sector they fall in. For example, greens tend to resonate with the east, while earthy, warm colours often suit the south and south west.

Being a designer of 30 years, advising on colours and artwork is a specialty. I include basic colour advice in all feng shui reports, or alternatively, I’m happy to consult or advise at an hourly rate.

Feng shui consultations

Onsite feng shui appraisals/reports average $390 for apartments; homes average $390-$690, depending on size, distance and complexity. Prices include an onsite visit, EMF check, an 8-12 page written report (emailed within 1 week) and followup advice.

When consulting I use a combination of traditional feng shui schools, including compass school, form school and flying stars (a more complex system that factors in time). I also assess balance, energy flow, colours, plants and artwork.

Your written feng shui report will cover relationships, health, finances, career, travel, children and creativity. Suggestions for strengthening and enhancing these areas will be made, along with instructions for ‘cures’ if needed. Simple changes can make a big difference!

2022: Year of the Water Tiger

This year’s Ox may have slowed the pace, but as the Tiger takes control from February 2022, look out – things could move quickly. The Western and Chinese new years are always a brilliant time to make changes and fresh starts, so here are a few feng shui tips to invite more love, luck and abundance into your home – and into your life!

1: Clear the clutter

In feng shui, clutter can trap us in the past, so if you’re ready to move forward, start clearing early. Tackle cupboards, purge your pantry, and cast out anything that’s broken or that evokes bad memories. Donate or sell clothes that never get worn, or if you’re unsure, pack them into boxes then pass them on, unopened, next year.

2: Energise the vibe

Launch into the 2022 Tiger Year on a fresh note by throwing open all the windows (and cleaning them!). Then to banish bad luck, burn white sage leaves or sandalwood incense in every nook and cranny. Outside, plant fragrant herbs or colourful flowers, then clean or repaint your porch and front door to invite prosperity.

3: Attract good fortune

From February 2022, the luckiest feng shui energies will gather around your home’s north east (most phones have a compass app). Begin with a good clean and declutter, then start beautifying. Flowers, art, crystals, oil diffusers, suncatchers, lamps, candles or bright red items should all help to attract luck and good fortune.

4: Support romance

To invite more romance in 2022, try energising the south eastern part of your home or garden. Jazz up your lighting, add romantic images, display rose quartz crystals (the stone of love) and pop in some pretty flowers, fruiting trees or culinary herbs. Alternatively, a pair of ornamental ducks or birds might work like a charm!
